Great history with this enamel sign.
The French Renaissance-style Customhouse was built in 1889 to regulate Auckland's expanding trades. The upper levels were used by other government offices. Edward Mahoney was the Customhouse's architect. Mahoney, who was born in County Cork, Ireland, was a prolific designer of Auckland's schools and churches throughout the late nineteenth century.
